Rorschach Bandana [2025]

product design

In collaboration with Karin Brettmeister, creative director of Berlin-based couture label Ritual Unions, we sought to create a more accessible ready-to-wear product that still resonated aesthetically & canonically with the designer.

In order to lower the barrier of entry into the Ritual Union’s brand universe while maintaining the luxury standard, we needed to be able to sell the product at a lower price point. Yet it would still need to be tasteful & aesthetically engaging. And most importantly, the object needed to be creatively authentic to the designer herself.

The bandana, a piece that consistently remains in Brettmeister’s personal clothing rotation, became an ideal option during a conversation in which she reflected on her experience making Rorschach-test prints as a child—by folding ink between sheets of paper to create symmetrical forms. In the atelier, we created 20–30 inkblot prints, dried and digitized them, and mirrored them across four quadrants to create a composition of over 50 layered elements.

In homage to the designer's childhood experience, the technique transforms a nostalgic process into an elevated composition that is inherently personal.
